Bio
Regina Hoyles is an award-winning writer, actor, and filmmaker who began her career at age nine and graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She created the acclaimed web series NAPS and made her directorial debut with the short film ADULLAM, which premiered at the Bentonville Film Festival and earned accolades such as Best Screenplay at Black Girls Rock! Film Fest. As the founder of RLH Productions, she is dedicated to amplifying Black stories through projects like Tender, Look Back At It, and WELCOME HOME.
Regina has also contributed as a writer on Disney’s animated series HEY AJ! and directed the Black women-centered psychological thriller MISSING RHYTHMS. Her acting credits include appearances on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Chi, All Rise, and 9-1-1: Lone Star. Additionally, she serves as the Pre-Production Supervisor for Black Girls Film Camp, providing script feedback and production support to emerging Black filmmakers.

In this discussion we explore Ayana's journey from a biology degree to filmmaking, her recent documentary work, the art of lighting people of color and more.
Ayana Baraka is an Emmy-winning Black female Director of Photography and Producer based in New York. She is a voting member for the TV Academy and holds membership in both the IATSE Local 600 and IBEW as a Director of Photography. She is one of only six Black female DPs in the Local 600.
With films premiering in back-to-back years at the Tribeca Film Festival, Ayana most recently served as the DP of ESPN’s docuseries, IN THE ARENA: SERENA WILLIAMS, which chronicles the career and life of Serena Williams. The series premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival. Ayana was also the DP of UNCHARTED, a vérité music documentary spotlighting Alicia Keys' “She Is the Music'' camp, which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival.

Spade has served on the decision making committee for several screenwriting fellowships, contests and labs, including FOX Writer’s Intensive, Nicholl Fellowship, Project Involve and Project Greenlight. She currently is the Screenwriting Lab Director for the Athena Screenwriting Lab and serves on the board of Rogers Short Film Festival.
